Hey all!
What a great two gigs we did there, well done to everyone!! Super job! I think in total we brought in 8000 EUR for those two schools — pretty good eh! Imagine, 8000 EUR just for us singing some songs, its crazy that something we love doing could bring in that much money for people, its just great — warms my heart up!
So there are 3 things left to do before its the end of another gospel year… I know, I know.. its gone so quickly.. its crazy! Don’t worry, not time to get sad yet!
Rehearsal Wed 28th: At this rehearsal we will be deciding on set list for gig the following week, looking at who is singing what and having a good oul sing through! I know I keep going on about this, but I am not choosing people to sing stuff for the end of year gig — you need to let me know if you want to sing something and what it is you want to sing. Some people have told me already, make sure you confirm this this week at rehearsal. If you cant make rehearsal please let me know if you want to sing and we will try to fit it into the set list.
End of Year Gig 5th May: Meet in the venue (in the SU) at 7pm to sound check etc, gig will start at 8pm and run until 10, and will be followed by lots of drinking/socialising etc! The set list for this will be decided on Wed night. Please also remember that this is YOUR gig, its not for anyone else, it is for YOU so you need to invite people, get friends and family to come along so they can support us and see what you have achieved all year. It will be 3e in to the SU — a small price to pay to hear how amazing we are!!
Gospel Rising Festival:
Ok, I cannot wait for this one! So this schedule below is subject to change as Andrae Crouch has joined the line up and I am not sure what he is doing yet, but this is an idea of what it will look like.
- Friday
- So we will be leaving for Ennis from Maynooth at 3pm. This will get us to our hostel for 6pm at the latest (http://www.rowantreehostel.ie/) and give us a chance to get freshened up before getting to the venue for the warm up gig with the London Community Gospel Choir at 8pm. That event continues until 10pm, and then we are free to explore the cultural highlights of Ennis at night (i.e. go for a pint!). If there is anyone who wants to make their own way there that is fine, just let me know so I can consider that in the car pooling (hopefully there will be 6 cars driving). You could also get a train to Limerick/on to Ennis, timetables available here. It will be great fun car pooling and heading down together as a group though!
- Saturday
- 9-5pm — workshops! Most people have signed up for whatever workshops they want to do, I will have the choices with me again on Wed so if you missed that opportunity let me know and I will give you a chance to fill these out. If you haven’t decided yet, then have a look at this, and let me know on Wednesday. The organisers do need to know by the end of the week who is doing what workshops!
8pm — concert! We are performing a 25 minute slot at this, in collaboration with the Celbridge choir. Set list to be confirmed, but definitely including Stand by me, hallelujah and Amazing Grace. After this concert we should most definitely sample the cultural highlights of Ennis. A lot.
- Sunday
- Morning: Lie in!
Lunch time: Workshop with Jack L!
Afternoon: Home time
People and Costs:If any of those who singed up can’t make it, PLEASE let me know, if you want to come now please let me know so that I can sign you up!
The break-up of the cost is the following:
Accommodation for 2 nights = 40 EUR
All weekends events = 50 EUR
Total = 90 EUR
Gospel Discount = 10 EUR
Final Amount = 80 EUR.
I am covering the cost of the deposit for the minute so that we don’t have to be messing about with money — you will need to give me 80e on the day that we are leaving and that will cover everything. Considering that we are getting a whole weekend away, this is extremely reasonable and doable. If anyone cant afford this but would really like to go, please let me know. Considering we are getting to work with the London Community Gospel Choir, Jack L and Andrae Crouch this is extremely reasonable in terms of a weekend away! It will be highly beneficial to you as a singer and to us as a group to get this experience!
Ok, I think that’s it for now, phew! So I will see you on Wednesday, let me know of any changes around the trip, and let me know if you would like to sing at the end of year event but you cant make rehearsals…
Love ye all!
Eims x

Hi guys!
So well done last week, it was a brilliant gig, such a success and such a good laugh! Well done to everyone, so much fun!
Tomorrow we leave Rye Hall car park at 5pm again to go to St. ultans in Cherry Orchard. Here is a link for directions to the school if anyone wants to meet us there instead, but please let me know so that I am not freaking out wondering where everyone is! I need everyone for this gig so please make sure you can be there!! If there is any problem with the meeting time please let me know so that I can try to sort something out. Wear all black and coloured shoes if you have them! The school are providing us with soup, sandwiches and cocktail sausages, whoop whoop!
In other news, our end of year gig is confirmed for the 5th of May in the Venue (thanks Tom!). Please tell all your friends and family etc, and let me know if you are interested in doing something at it (like a solo or something different!). Here is the facebook event — have a look and invite people from there if you like.
The festival is going ahead the wknd of the 7th–9th of May. If you have not put your name down for this and would like to, please let me know ok! You can find more info about the festival on www.gospelrising.com
Ok guys thats all, see you tomorrow at 5pm, be there or be square!!

Hi guys!
Hope you all had a great study week! Now it’s back to gospel and we’ve got a lot going on– two rehearsals, then it’s Easter week, then gigs on April 14th and 21st, two more rehearsals, and the end of year gig! That’s it! So it’s time to pull our colourful socks up and get into performance mode. We really need everyone to be at rehearsal as we have to go back over the usual set list as well as finishing our new songs and giving out solos.
Also, this week we have the parade with Samba. We’d like as many of you as possible to meet at 11am this Thursday at The Venue to jam a bit with the professional Samba-ers they’ve got coming in (maybe even learn a new song!), march in their parade at lunchtime, and sing a few songs around campus. They’ve also invited us to their samba event at Mantra that night. (I’ve been told there’ll be dancing and girls in feathers!!) It looks like it’s going to be pretty crazy and a great opportunity to have fun with another society.
In other news, don’t forget that our eagerly anticipated new-look hoodies are on their way so please try to get yours paid for this week as we’re being quite strict about the no money, no hoodie rule this year. It’d be really helpful if as many of you as possible could bring correct change.
That’s it from me!
It’s gonna be a great week! Can’t wait to see you all!
Yours until the kitchen sinks,
Paula x
